Amr is Chief Technical Officer at Cloudera, Inc, a startup which he co-founded in Oct 2008. Before that he was an Entrepreneur in Residence at Accel Partners since June of 2008. Previously, he served as Vice President of Engineering at Yahoo! where he led the Business Intelligence and Data Analytics teams for a number of Yahoo!’s flagship properties (Search, Mail, Finance, Sports, etc).

He co-founded VivaSmart in June 1999 (also known as Aptivia), which Yahoo! acquired in June 2000 to be the main catalog management system powering the Yahoo! shopping service. Amr received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Electrical Engineering from Cairo University, Egypt, in 1992 and 1995 respectively, and earned a Doctorate in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University in 2007. Amr is the first investor in Diagnosoft and currently serves on it’s board of directors.
